Updated: Sep 22, 2018
R.A. Powell today (21/09/18) released his debut novel 'Odd Socks', a children's family adventure story via Blossom Spring Publishing. The book is available in paperback and ebook via Amazon, Waterstones and Barnes & Noble (US).
R.A. Powell lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and two young children. He was inspired to write Odd Socks by his Father-in-Law, and his ongoing travails in trying to hunt down his missing sock.
Odd Socks was written on a smartphone, the author wrote every day for 30 minutes over an eighteen month period while on his daily commute into London.
Odd Socks is set in Socksville, a town whose residents have no other choice but to work for the evil Mr Foot, a rich and nasty businessman who has a monopoly on the sock industry. Mr Foot has treated his workers, family and the community terribly for many years. But he faces his biggest challenge when a pair of odd socks named Sophie & Henry, with the support of an international team of clothing accessories, aim to put a stop to his despicable behaviour. The story plays out in two main locations: The Big Factory on the Big Hill (Mr Foot’s dark and awful factory where all the socks are made) and Mr Foot’s enormous 48-bedroom mansion.
Odd Socks is suitable for any child who is comfortable reading chapter books - it's 238 pages in length - it can also be enjoyed by teenagers and grown-ups too!
